Jeep seat will not recline?

Hi My jeep wrangler 2001 passenger seat will not recline it stays in the laid all the way back position and when you use the lever to recline it just moves back and forth freely and will not lock into any position you don't even have to pull the lever it just moves like that without ever locking. Is there an easy fix I really didnt wanna take it into a shop its just thinking about somebody touching my girl that gives me the willys oh and Im a chick didnt know why it matters just wanted you to know. Its been like that for a while and when I say an easy fix I mean any fix I can do at home without in dangering my jeep Im pretty handy.
