If someone attacks me on board a flight, can I take legal action?

I was on board a flight with my family, we were reclining in our chairs when the family behind us asks us to put our chair up (rudely, may I add). I say no, as we have the right to, they then start shoving the chairs into the upright position. My brother hits his head on the chair in front. He has a big bruise and my other brother became sick, not from the flight, I am sure. This happened a month ago, can I obtain the passengers name and take legal action?
