NROTC without Scholarship?

I want to be an officer in the Navy. I want to be a computer programmer within it. I'm really trying to get into Anapolis or the Scholarship but I don't think I will. I am worried that if I don't get the scholarship and go into the Navy as a comissioned Ensign I will not have enough money to pay back my student loans by the time my first enlistment is up (four years to pay it off but i'll probably serve more)? I really want to go to the Navy to carry on the tradition of my family but I don't want to have to serve while figuring out how to pay for my student loans and still having them when I go into the private sector. Schools I would be looking at would be Pitt, Penn State, and University of Arizona (approx. 20k/year). I don't want to sound like I'm only doing this for money. If I was I would not be considering doing ROTC while not on scholarship. I want to serve my country but I am very worried about paying for college. I don't want my parents to have to pay a cent because its my education not theirs. Thank you for all serious answers on whether it is doable or not and the best course of action.

Can i get a good score on the SAT?

so heres my story: I was in school for a couple of years, and had a little "falling out" with my parents. No idea what caused them to start getting angry all the time, but long story short, Im not in scool anymore and dont have a co-signer. When i took the sat my score was actually a little less than what i needed to get in to a university(this school required a 21; bigger schools require 23-25) They let me in anyways. I did absolutely no preparation for the act and screwed off a lot in high school. Im looking to get any scholarships i possibly can right now. Is it possible(or even somewhat reasonable I might say) for me to get a good score on an SAT>? I was also pretty average in college, so for me to get a good score on one of these tests would be pretty amazing, but what if i really studied for it? Do average people study really really really hard for it and get great scores, or am i just kinda doomed for screwing off all those high school years? what do you think. I think you have a good chance of getting. the main thing that sticks out is your SAT scores. but they are still okay. Also your gpa could be raised by a little. But you have a good chance of getting in.

Jeep seat will not recline?

Hi My jeep wrangler 2001 passenger seat will not recline it stays in the laid all the way back position and when you use the lever to recline it just moves back and forth freely and will not lock into any position you don't even have to pull the lever it just moves like that without ever locking. Is there an easy fix I really didnt wanna take it into a shop its just thinking about somebody touching my girl that gives me the willys oh and Im a chick didnt know why it matters just wanted you to know. Its been like that for a while and when I say an easy fix I mean any fix I can do at home without in dangering my jeep Im pretty handy.

2011 Ford Edge Limited vs 2011 Kia Sorento SX?

The Kia Sorento's Sx 2nd row seats do recline. The Kia Sorento Sx also has a 3rd row seat. The ford edge limited has a very impressive dash with all the variations of color, but I test drove the explorer which has the same dash set up, it was 91 degrees outside, when using the voice activated for climate control ,I could have had a heat stroke by the time it went through all the questions to set the temp where i wanted it lol. But I haven't driven the ford edge but if it is a smooth ride and you don't need the third row, I would say the ford edge, I bought the Kia Sorento Sx just this past Saturday because I needed the third seat., but I wish it could be a little bit smoother ride.

Sudden pelvic pain after sitting up really quickly?!?

I was sitting in an office chair, slightly reclining, doing homework- and I sat up suddenly and had this incredible piercing pain in my pelvic area. It felt like I had a thick wood stick inside me that was suddenly snapped in half. I am a 21 year female. I am not on my period (and not pregnant), have no health problems. I got up to go to the bathroom and afterward the pain went away within a few minutes. This has happened maybe once or twice before in the past maybe 4 years. Does anyone have any ideas to what might have caused this pain?

I would have to pay a lot for my tuition this Fall at a CSU. Ok, so the kid I like came and hung out at my house with his two other frends. But before we got out of school I told my rlly close friend that he was coming over. So she told a diffrent girl that he was coming over to my house cuz it just kinda came up i there convo.. No big deal rite? Basketball tryout help!?

i can try out for the jr team at high school for me im 15. people say i have a good shot so i had a basketball net since i was like 6 or 7 i just kept shooting dribbling etc i would play against better people then me it would make me better just practice layups, shooting, dribbiling play against others , your spped jog around the bloc to improve conditioning its what im gonna start doing why not dribble when you jog :)? it helps. hope i helped :)

35wks Baby turning!! Normal?

Third pregnancy, so very different. LO has been head down for a while, would shift a little here and there but settle back into place. She hasn't gone completely sideways in a while, but yesterday she did. I thought my stomach was going to rip (not literally of course) it hurt so bad. And after hours of her squirming (not sure if they can get stuck??), I feel like I'm bruised. I tried laying in so many positions to help her (and me), but to no avail. Both sides, reclined, hands and knees, you name it. Eventually throughout the night she shifted to a less painful position, but I couldn't tell you what end is up right now :( I know I have 5-7 weeks to go, but if she turned breech, what are the chances of turning back?

MIL driving me crazy with my newborn?

Ok so this is my third baby, but her first grandchild. I know how to take care of a baby and I know the current do's and don'ts. The last baby she raised was 27 years ago. Anyway I finally got her to stop putting him on his belly which was the first issue I had. She swears he NEEDS to go on his belly because if he spits up he will choke. I told my bf who was actually listening to her that more babies die from SIDS than they do from choking and that our son is breastfed and hardly ever spits up anyway. He finally started listening to me when I asked him if he wold like the doctor to explain to him instead. Other than that it's been a bunch of little things until now. He is almost 7 weeks old. I try putting him in his crib as much as possible to get him used to it, but in the middle of the night if it's not working he goes in his swing or his bouncy chair. Both of them are in a reclined position. We live with his parents right now because before I came along there was no point of him having a place. He is a truck driver and is only home 1 or 2 days a week. Also last summer both his parents needed surgery and were out of work so he was the one here paying the bills. Now we are saving to buy our own house. Anyway she keeps lecturing me about how I need to put him in his crib blah blah blah. Come on! I have a 2yr old and a 4yr to deal with on top of taking care of my newborn I don't need you NAGGING at me! Both of my other kids were raised by me. Both of them slept in a crib from about 3-4 months until they no longer needed it. Both of my kids sleep in their own beds to this day. I think I can handle it!!! In my opinion I should be doing what works for ME. Am I right? During the day I try all day to put him in his crib and maybe 1 out of 10 times he actually stays asleep in it. I will try once in the middle of the night and after that no because I am lucky if I get 5 hours of sleep on any other night. I got him to sleep in his crib from 11pm to 3:30am last night, but when I put him back around 4:30 he wouldn't stay asleep so finally around 6 I put him in his swing after he woke me up every 20 minutes. She doesn't work today so when she woke up and saw him in his swing she started the nagging again. What would you do or say? Am I wrong? I think I'm right because my other kids are just fine. I keep explaining how he won't sleep and I need to sleep, but that doesn't work. I'm going crazy!

Baggage question when flying delta?

me, my husband, 2 cats, and 1yr old will be flying delta from hawaii to nc and because we are moving due to military orders we get 3 bags up to 70lbs but my issue is carry on bags and carseat. i have read that bc the carseat is large the person in front wont be able to recline and seeing as how the army paid 1043 for her a seat i don't think its right of others to complain but will this cause a problem? also bc of the time of yr we have to ship our cats in cabin so that counts as a carry on taking both me and my husbands alloted bags. does my child get a carry-on? is it by the seat or person b/c she cant carry it? i will have a cpap bag and medication and insulin and needles for myself which doesn't count as a bag but does a diaper bag? does this mean we will not get any carry on bags allowed? thanks in advance

I don't disapprove,everyone to their own.I used get very bad anxiety and panic attacks and I was a heavy smoker for many years.Often got heart palpitations and have had more than one round of tests done on my heart.I eventually had to give up smoking five years ago.If there is a history of anxiety problems you need to keep you lifestyle as stress free as possible,hard to do as it is, and try keep to a healthy diet,exercise and yes try give up the smokes.Not a disapproval,it's just what worked for me.

Question about double jogging stroller?

I am looking to buy a double stroller for my 4 year old and 1 year old. Mostly for our day trips like the zoo and beach...things like that. I like the jogging strollers since the weight limits are more and maybe I can have it for next year too. Our 4.5 year old is 39 lbs so I don't want one that has a 40 lb weight limit. Anyway my question is...Do any of the jogging strollers have seat that sit upright and not a slight recline. My boyfriend talked to his coach, asking for every other weekend off. The coach asked why and he said to see my girlfriend. The coach asked which is more important, your own team or your girlfriend? He said my girlfriend. The coach said you know I can take away your football scholarship right now? He said yes and walked away. Now he has to pay 16k by the end of the first semester. He can't attend classes unless he pays the full 32k. He can't get a student loan because they already went out. Is there something that he could do? I don't view that as very fair. They shouldn't ask him to mandatorily pay that. So is there anything he can do?

You and I are in the same boat. My mother in law doesn't like me at all. Actually all of my wife's sisters cant stand me. Does it bother me? NO. You need to just drop it. what is the average age that an infant should be able to tip their bottle by themselves? for numerous reasons my daughter is 16 months and still on the bottle (whole milk, not formula), but she isn't able to tip the bottle herself. So, I have to hold her in a reclining position (almost laying down) or hold the bottle myself and feed her. I am having so many issues trying to wean her with a sippy cup, I have been trying for months now and I have no idea what to do. Don't worry, its fine. When my son was a new born thats the only place he would sleep. He had really bad gas issues and the motion would sooth is tummy. Try to get the higest grade possible. AP classes shouldn't cost money, but AP exams do. Yes, do extracurricular activites that you love and holding an office in the club will help. I recommended that you volunteer as soon as possible. Volunteer at somewhere that you like. Because volunteering is a really good thing to do no matter what. Yes you have to take a foreign language at highschool. Unless your highschool is different. No you don't have to go to a private school to get into Harvard. If you want to get in you have to stand out! Everyone applying might be number one in their class or have one million hours of volutenner hours(which isn't a bad thing). I just found out that the college I transferred from got sued for taking money from students. It was a private college. I had two scholarships (not from the school) that cover and was over my whole tuition and was told that I had to take out student loans. I also had to do work-study. One semester I couldn’t because they said I had too much money to qualify for work-study. Also students stayed in financial aid office. I asked them where student loans money went; they will say we sent it back. Most school will have you sign a paper that says you want to return the money. I never got anything back from this school. (Both scholarships allowed you to get the left over amount back). So I transferred to another school. I never had any problem with financial aid at this school. I get my money back. Now that I’m graduating next year, I will have to start paying back the loans. I look over my loan statements and I found out they didn’t sent any of my money back. The school statements said they did. Would it be too late for me to file my own lawsuit against them?

Today, i went to the beach for about 2 and 1/2 hours, and I've never had a bad sunburn like this before. I had no sunscreen that wasn't in date (all of mine were expired). One area that is really sunburned bad is my right leg. It is very swollen, and is bright bright red. I need a bra, and it's really embarrassing to ask so how can I make my mom buy me one?

I have a flat cloth, bra but it's tight and it hurts when I wear it. I also can't wear certain clothes with it like fancy tops. When I wear it you can see the imprint of the front of the cloth bra on my shirt. Sometimes if I have a see through shirt i wear multiple undershirts but you can see the...lumpiness and roundness of my boobs. Exhibit design at a museum takes artistic talent (This is what im going to school for) and lots of people will see what you have created. Set design for plays or movies. so heres my story: I was in school for a couple of years, and had a little "falling out" with my parents. No idea what caused them to start getting angry all the time, but long story short, Im not in scool anymore and dont have a co-signer. When i took the sat my score was actually a little less than what i needed to get in to a university(this school required a 21; bigger schools require 23-25) They let me in anyways. I did absolutely no preparation for the act and screwed off a lot in high school. Im looking to get any scholarships i possibly can right now. Is it possible(or even somewhat reasonable I might say) for me to get a good score on an SAT>? I was also pretty average in college, so for me to get a good score on one of these tests would be pretty amazing, but what if i really studied for it? Help chest pains sharp pains when i breath and swollen neck/head right side?

About two weeks ago i had a slight discomfort when i laid down at night on my back. it was like i could feel my heart beating really hard in my chest and slight discomfort when i inhaled. Over the past two weeks its progressed to where i cant lay down because everytime i take a breath i get a really sharp pain that almost brings me to tears and the same thing when i bend over. Also today my neck has started to swell. it started just to be right behind my ear where my neck meets my skull i thought i might had slept on it funny since i had slept a few lousy hours in a lazy boy(not reclined) but now its swolen just down to my jaw not quite under it and almost down to my collar bone. I've already been sore all over in my neck back shoulders and chest from the pains. Im 19 years old and i dont have medical insur. and I or my parents are finacially stable enough to pay for anything other than a routine drs visit. So plz if theres anyone that can shed even a little light on what it could be and if theres some over the counter meds to take for it. Ive been chewing asprins thats about it so far.

Nightmare about my grandfather?

I had a dream last night, I went to my Grandparents but my grandfather was standing in the living room (the back door goes right into it) and when i went to open the door he was pushing against the door not letting me in. He then locked the door, went to his chair, light (is that the passed tense spelling?) a cigarette, reclined, started to smoke it, fell asleep, and then he and his chair suddenly engulfed in flames. What could this mean? hes still alive by the way.

How to prevent neck and back pain during sit ups?

Apparently its the positioning of your head that causes neck strain. Initially i placed a tennis ball under my chin to stop this but over time didnt need it. I focus on pulling myself up with my abs and make sure im not tensing my neck/legs. Doing the situps slower helps you get the feel of this, remember quality is better than quantity. When you have the hang of this and feel like you can do more and maybe faster, go for it. Do the tennis ball trick and note a spot on the wall your eyes meet, then remove the tennis ball and focus on that spot when you do situps (try not to pull your head forward) sorry if this answer is bunched/has typos, its 1am and im on my iPhone :p

I don't know of an option for Reserves. However, you can be in National Guard and ROTC at the same with the Simultaneous Membership Program. All Universities that offer ROTC have SMP as well. You commission as a 2LT upon graduation and owe 8 years of guard duty afterwards.

Tampon problems! Please help!?

I'm 13 and a virgin and I've never had a period. I know it's coming soon though. I'm going to camp this summer and everyone said not to bring pads. They said the high school counselors hang them from the rafters. Everyone said to bring tampons. So, to prepare myself, I decided to insert one about 10 minutes ago. I washed my hands, took my pants and panties off, and went to work, so to speak. I unwrapped the Tampax Pearl Lite (my friend recommended it) tampon. Then, I proceeded to make sure my vagina was lubricated. It was nice and wet and sticky. I tried like 5 times. I reclined on the toilet lid and tipped my bottom up. Then, I put one foot up on the counter, and then one foot on the lid, then I tried squatting, just plain standing... Nothing worked! What university should i attend?

I am a grade 11 student, I am applying to university in the fall. I have a 94% average. My father is a professor at Brock University, it isn't great, but it's not horrible. This means I get free tuition, and if I get a scholarship, I am basically getting paid to go to university. However, there is McGill University that is best in the country that i've wanted to go to for years now. It has a medical school and It is in my favourite city and it has the greatest programs. I wish to go to medical school and become a pediatrician. If I go to McGill I will be spending a lot of money, and possibly not old enough to be on my own. My parents have said that if I get scholarships into McGill I can go. Im just not sure where to go. Also, I have a lot of important family and friends at home that I don't want to leave behind. 37 weeks pregnant and everything hurts.?

For the last 2 days, everything below my belly button aches, even my legs and ankles. Not an ache that goes away with rest or water... My cat died while i was away for the weekend. How did he die?

My husband and I decided to go away for the 3 day weekend. When we got home we found our cat Fez on the couch, in his usual position, sitting on his side but he had blood coming from his nose, and he was dead. Is this the normal course of development?

How to fix the spring on a reclining sofa?

I have a leather sofa that reclines on both ends. There is a plastic pull lever on each end that you pull to recline but the now it won't recline on either end. I turned the sofa over and saw a spring had come off the hole where it had been hooked, but when I tried to hook the spring back it was virtually impossible because it is so tight that I couldn't hook it back into the place. Any advice?

Hey, guys! Yesterday, I failed the first exam in my entire life, like really important exam. I'm in my final year at university, I'm a straight A student, I have never had problems at university before, I'm pretty good at studying. But this year is my final one, and we have a new teacher, he failed me yesterday, and now I can't apply for my final university exam for my masters degree, I have to wait until September and try again with him. I went with my friends to the Dean and he said he could get us a new date for the same exam, because we are graduating this year and he knows that we are capable, plus in my country, you have exams at the end of your final year if you fail them, you can take them again. The problem is that the Dean will get us the date for the exam, but the professor is really mean and will probably fail us again. The Dean told us if the professor fails us again, he would put two new guys to grade us... I hope it doesn't come to this. Today when we were looking at your exams to see what is wrong with them, the professor was such an ***, he basically told us that we do not need masters, because we are stupid and he didn't know how we got this far - me and few others. I felt so humiliated and stupid... I've always put so much effort in my studying, I've always got a scholarship... What can I do now, how to reason with the bastard? Help pls... I have no money for college?

My husband thinks I'm too fat...?

My husband and I started dating as teenagers. We've been together for almost 16 years and married for almost 6. We have an almost 2 year old son who is full of energy & constantly on the move. While I was pregnant, my husband (who was 6'2" and 250 lbs at the time) decided to go on a health kick and lost 75+ lbs. We've removed junk food from the house, we've cut out most of the red meat, etc. He travels for his job and is away during the week so it is easy for him to jump on the treadmill at the hotel for 30 minutes before heading to dinner. I work 3 days/week and spend the rest of my time chasing around our little guy. I had a few extra pounds to begin with, but am 5 lbs. below my pre-pregnancy weight. (I'm 5'8" and 165 lbs, overweight but not morbidly so) He says I've let myself go and is constantly making snide marks about how I should go to the gym. His looks are always disapproving and now I constantly feel self-concious, even in my own home. I WANT to lose weight. I WANT to be skinny. I just childishly don't want to do it for him. I'm hurt, unwanted, & apparently unloveable according to him. I told him he should leave and go find himself a better model that is willing to put up with him. I don't think he will...but maybe someday. I'm just sad, hurt & dreading him coming home tomorrow... I just want to be accepted for who I am and free to change myself for me. I want to be a happy, healthy family for our little boy.

She won't accept it, especially as you're so young. Just say you're at your friend's house. Also, if you want to move out for college move out. And tell her in few years or months. It's good that you tried talking to your mom. If she gets angry when talking to you, tell her you'd like to speak to her without yelling because yelling gets people nowhere. I'd say just do what she says so that she can't yell at you about something that you already took care of, like cleaning up the crumbs. Last week, I went to my local library. Which I do every other Saturday. The man at the information desk said to me, "Are you really going to read all these books?" with this look on his face like a disapproving dad. Arrive at the airport early and try to get an emergency row window seat (the other seats in front of an emergency row DO recline, but not the ones by the window. Even with the ones in front of you that do recline, there's still more room in the exit row). Or, you could also try to get a bulkhead seat (right behind first class or business with only a wall in front of you, so no one to tilt back). You could also consider purchasing an upgrade at the airport. If you use the self check-in machine, and there's availability, when you go to check in, it'll ask you if you'd like to purchase the upgrade for $XX amount of dollars (depends on distance you're traveling,etc.) In First Class, even if the person in front of you tilts back, there's still plenty of room for you.
